Yemo Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Yemo ("Yemo", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when restaurants, merchants, guests, and other users use the Yemo platform, including our websites and our mobile apps for iOS and Android. By using Yemo, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
- Merchant information — business name, address, email, phone number, and account credentials provided at registration.
- Guest information — order details, and where a guest chooses to provide it, a name and contact details for order updates, reviews, or a reply from the restaurant.
- Transaction information — order and payment records. Card details are handled by our third-party payment providers, not stored by Yemo.
- Content you choose to share — reviews, photos, and short videos you submit about a meal, together with the display name you post them under. This content is shown publicly on the restaurant's page.
- Usage information — how the platform is used, for analytics and to improve the service.
- Technical information — device type, operating system version, app version, and diagnostic reports when something goes wrong.
2. The Yemo Mobile Apps
The Yemo app asks for the permissions below. Each is requested only at the moment the feature needs it, and the app remains usable if you decline — you will simply be offered another way to do the same thing.
- Camera — to scan the QR code on your table, and to take a photo or video of a meal when you choose to share one. If you decline, you can still enter a table code by hand and browse the menu.
- Microphone — recorded only as part of a video you choose to film. Yemo does not record audio on its own, and there is no background listening.
- Photo library — used only to let you pick an existing photo or video to share. Yemo reads the item you select and nothing else.
- Location — used only when you tap a feature that needs it, such as "Near me", and only to work out how far away a place is. Yemo does not track your location in the background, does not store a history of where you have been, and does not use location to target advertising.
- Notifications — see section 3.
When you sign in, the app stores a sign-in token on your device so you are not asked to sign in every time you open it. Removing the app removes that token.
Two things we deliberately do not do: when you search, we record that a restaurant appeared in a search so the restaurant can see its own visibility, but we do not store what you typed. And the places you save are private to you by default — they are not shown to anyone else unless you turn sharing on yourself.
3. Push Notifications
With your permission, Yemo may send notifications about things that concern you directly — for example that your order is ready, that a restaurant has replied to your review, or that a reward you have earned is waiting. To deliver them, your device is issued a notification token by Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM), which we store against your account and use only to send you these messages.
You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings, and doing so does not affect anything else in the app. When you sign out or remove the app, the token stops being used.
4. How We Use Information
- To operate restaurant ordering, payments, and guest engagement
- To send order updates and, with consent, service or marketing messages
- To show you a more relevant home screen, which you can switch off (see section 10)
- To generate analytics and AI-powered insights for merchants
- To secure the platform and prevent misuse
- To comply with legal obligations
5. SMS and Messaging
Where a guest or merchant provides a phone number and opts in, Yemo (or a restaurant using Yemo) may send messages such as order updates, replies to feedback, or offers. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP, and reply HELP for help. We do not sell or share phone numbers or SMS opt-in consent with third parties for their own marketing. Opt-in information is used only to deliver the messages you agreed to receive.
6. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to run the platform: with the restaurant you are ordering from, with service providers who operate parts of the platform on our behalf, and where required by law. We do not sell personal information.
Those service providers are, in the categories that apply to the apps:
- Payment processing — to take payment for an order.
- Notification delivery — Apple and Google, to deliver push notifications to your device.
- Error diagnostics — to receive reports when the app fails, so we can fix it. These reports are configured not to include personal details.
- Messaging delivery — to send the SMS described in section 5.
7. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Merchants may request deletion of data subject to those obligations.
8. Deleting Your Account and Your Data
You can delete your Yemo account from inside the app — open your Account screen and tap Delete my account. Full step-by-step instructions, and exactly what is removed and what is kept, are on our account deletion page.
You can also ask us to do it for you. Email support@yemo.app from the address on your account, or write to the address in section 14, and we will action the request.
When an account is deleted we remove your profile, your saved places, your taste preferences, and your notification tokens. Some records are kept where the law requires it — principally completed order and payment records, which are needed for tax and accounting purposes. Reviews and photos you posted publicly are removed from your account; if a review has already been replied to by a restaurant it may remain visible without your name attached.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Choices
- Opt out of marketing messages at any time (reply STOP to SMS)
- Turn notifications off in your device settings
- Turn off personalisation in the app, which stops us using your past orders to shape what you are shown
- Choose whether the places you save are visible to anyone else — they are private unless you say otherwise
- Refuse any app permission, and keep using the app
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information (see section 8)
- Contact us with any privacy question at the address below
11. Children's Privacy
Yemo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
13. Governing Law
This Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
